Jim Stone Bio

Jim Stone is an independent consultant involved in business analytics and adult education.
In the 1980’s and 90’s he was an executive in the commercial real estate industry, first as CFO of a historic office building developer in Boston, then as VP of Acquisitions for Northland Investment Corporation in Newton, MA. In 1994 he founded geoVue, a predictive analytics software company that developed information systems used by chain retailers and restaurants for site selection. His largest clients were Dunkin’ Donuts, Walgreens, UPS, Albertsons, Simon Property Group, and Church’s Chicken. geoVue grew to $4.5 Million in sales and 35 employees with clients across the US. After selling geoVue in 2011, he started Chain Store Advisors and has continued to advise companies on site selection and market planning strategy.
In 2013 he earned an M. Ed. Instructional Design from UMass Boston with a focus on development of online learning programs for adult education. Since then he has developed online courses for the Illinois CPA Society and taught Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at North Shore Community College. He will begin teaching the same courses at Salem State University beginning in Summer 2016.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) from Southern Methodist University in a prior millennium and is a Certified Analytics Professional (INFORMS, the largest analytics professional association). He is passionate about entrepreneurship education and is on the education committee of the Crowdfunding Professionals Association (www.cfpa.org).
