Carol McLaughlin

Carol McLaughlin is an architect who worked for the City of Boston’s Office of Business Development as their Design Services Manager. She assisted 35 small neighborhood businesses a year in 17 designated Boston Main Streets redevelopment neighborhoods. Carol provided design oversight for logo development, sign design and permitting, and storefront renovation, as well as tips on improving interior layouts. She was also instrumental in revamping the storefront design guidelines for the City of Boston.

When Carol retired, she became a retail design consultant working for an independent retail consulting firm in small towns across the State. In 2015 Carol began working exclusively with the Salem Main Streets Initiative Downtown Program, Inc, where she is now a Board member. Along with the Kylie Sullivan, Executive Director of Salem Main Streets, Carol now works with small businesses throughout the City of Salem offering design ideas and tips.
