business law

CANCELLED – Business Law 2.0 – Navigating Business Ownership in the Digital Age (3 Sessions)

REGISTER NOW!

In 2016 nearly every growth business is a technology business.  Whether you create, sell or simply use technology in your day-to-day operations, it is at the heart of what you do.  If the idea of one week (or even one day) with no mobile or IP phones, no internet access, and no access to electronically stored data, strikes fear in your heart, then this is the course for you.  As the way businesses operate has evolved over the past 20 years, so has the law governing how you use technology in your business.

In this class we will focus on three areas of your business most impacted by these new rules:

  • Marketing – from websites to text messaging to affiliate networks, there are multiple tools to reach your current and future customers. We will discuss the legal considerations for various marketing approaches and how to stay on the right side of state, federal and international rules and regulations.
  • Data – your business maintains data about your employees, contractors, and customers. In this age of the “data breach” it is imperative to understand your obligations as a business owner, including working with third party vendors, to protect this data.
  • Development – you are always in the process of defining and redefining your brand and product and services offerings. We will discuss how intellectual property laws have evolved in response to changes in technology and how to protect your company and its assets.

This training is great for  Business Owners and Managers as well as Marketing and IT Services Providers

NOTE:  This class meets 3 times, Thursday evenings from 7 – 9:00 pm, June 2-16, 2016 at Salem State University.  A parking permit will be emailed to you before the first class meeting.
