Customers are truly the heart and soul of a business. They buy goods or services to make sure your business stays afloat. Whether you’re just starting your business or you want to revamp, it’s important to keep customers in the front of your mind. Here are five ways that you can attract new customers while also keeping loyal ones coming back.

Offer Discounts & Promotions

In this economy full of inflated prices on goods and services, customers are looking for the best value and the best deal. A great way to attract new individuals to your business is through offering discounts and promotions.

Apply new customer discounts, “buy 1 get 1 free” specials, urgent flash sales, lifestyle discounts, and lifestyle promotions. You also can create a Loyalty Program where individuals will get rewarded by earning points each time they purchase a good or service.

Emphasize Customer Service

A business is only as strong as its employees. Businesses should focus on how their stores physically operate. If a customer has a bad experience at a store, whether it’s from an employee or external factors, they won’t be as willing to return. It’s just as vital to keep a returning group of customers while also gaining new ones. About 86% of buyers are willing to pay more for a positive customer experience

To promote excellent customer service, companies should always meet the needs of their customers. Your business should use a mix of speed, quality, cost, and flexibility. However, it’s important to create an emotional connection with your customer. This can be through your welcoming nature, strong storytelling, and consistency.

Network, Network, Network

You’ve probably heard the term networking before in college, applying for jobs, or other avenues of business. One way your company can gain new customers is through word of mouth. This includes talking to friends and loved ones for referrals, following up with customers after sales, or attending community-wide events to get the word out there.

Always have a business card on hand to pass out to those who are willing to look into your business. Marketing yourself isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but in the long run, it will only help attract more people to visit your company.

Use Online Reviews to Your Advantage

Online reviews can be the best form of advertising because it’s free. When you’ve started gaining a couple of customers for your business, ask them to leave online reviews of their experience. Yelp and Nextdoor are good review platforms to utilize.

When reviews start coming in about your business, you can link them to your website. This way, any possible customer who’s interested can read first-hand experiences about your services.

There are many ways to attract customers to your business, while also making sure to have favorites that continue to return. If you’re looking to attract more customers to your business, check out our workshop, “Start-Up Tuesday – How to Get More Customers,” on March 19, hosted by Michael M. Thompson.
