Sue’s path to the helm of Beverly Bootstraps includes 20+ years in the non-profit sector. Since 2008, Sue has led Beverly Bootstraps from a grass-roots organization to a mid-sized non-profit. She has successfully managed a 300% growth of the organization in number of clients, revenue and number of staff. In her career, Sue spent time as the Director of Tourism for Thoroughbred Country in South Carolina. She led rural areas in community development to increase tourism; created a strategic plan for the organization and won a marketing award from the Southeast Tourism Association for her work to promote the four-county area of that southern state. As Director of Development for Beverly School for the Deaf, she substantially increased donations and grant funds; helped to create a successful signature event and participated in the organization’s rebranding effort. As a sole proprietor of Marketing Success, she obtained grants for Essex County Heritage Area and helped create marketing plans for start-up or small for-profit ventures. This varied experience prepared her for the complexity of leading a community organization. Sue holds a B.A. in English/Communications with a Business Minor and frequently participates in business learning opportunities and trainings. Sue resides in Beverly, MA with her husband and three children and is a proud member of the Beverly Rotary Club and is involved in many community groups and activities.
