As his first executive order last January, Governor Baker launched the Community Compact program as a way of strengthening the Baker-Polito administration’s partnership with communities.   These mutual agreements between the Commonwealth and individual towns or cities to implement best practices are under the direction of the Community Compact Cabinet, headed by Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito.

Karyn Polito

Karyn Polito is the 72nd Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

She began her public service in local government serving as a member of the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen, and served for ten years in the House of Representatives after being elected in 2001.

As a family business owner and attorney, Polito has worked hard to promote jobs, reduce red tape and promote economic development through public - private partnerships. She serves as Chair for the Governor’s Council to reduce sexual assault and domestic violence, leading a council to identify best practices and determine ways to help survivors reach physical and economic security and self-sufficiency.

She also chairs the Community Compact Cabinet, which allows the Governor’s Office to work directly with city and town leaders to strengthen municipal partnerships as part of the Baker-Polito Administration's focus on building stronger communities across our Commonwealth.

Lieutenant Governor Polito is a lifelong resident of Shrewsbury, where she lives with her husband and two young children.
