THE DINNER DAILY WINS THE 2016 NORTH OF BOSTON BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION April 12, 2016, Salem, MA. — After energetic presentations by the three finalists, The Dinner Daily was chosen as the first place winner in the 2016 North of Boston Business Plan Competition, taking home the $10,000 prize.
The Competition Finale, which is sponsored by the Enterprise Center, was held on Monday, April 11th at Salem State University. The Dinner Daily solves a stressful problem most families face every day: how to put a healthy dinner on the table, every night, quickly and affordably. The company provides weekly easy-to make meal plans, customized to a subscriber’s food preferences as well as what is on sale at the grocery store, thereby helping families eat healthy and save up to 20% of their food budgets.
Laurin Mills, the founder and owner of the Dinner Daily commented that “The Dinner Daily is thrilled to have been chosen the First Place winner in the 2016 North of Boston Business Plan Competition. The last two months have been an extraordinary and valuable journey for me and my company. The Competition gave us the chance to hone our business plan, get very helpful feedback from a talented group of judges, and make some business connections that we know will help us move forward. The Enterprise Center made this possible and we are enormously grateful.
And a special note of congratulations to the two other winners, IMMI Financial Solutions and Metzy’s Taqueria. These are businesses to watch as well.”
The second place prize of $5,000 was awarded to IMMI Financial Solutions. The company is a financial services hub for blue collar workers and provides a prepaid card, which works as an alternative to checking accounts, to help their customers manage their account and personal finances, as well as financial literacy and education seminars. The company expects to locate their business in the Lowell/Lawrence area.
The third place prize of $3,000 was awarded to Metzy’s Taqueria, LLC, of Newburyport, MA. Metzy’s Taqueria, LLC, is a Mobile Restaurant Company known for its uniquely flavorful Taqueria-style Street Food and cultural following. Metzy’s is in the process of opening a Flagship Restaurant/”Cantina” set to launch late Spring 2016, and plans to add new mobile units with an ultimate goal of a nation-wide rollout within 5 years.
It has been a journey for each of these three businesses and their owners. They entered the Competition on February 24, 2016 along with 21 other businesses, were selected as finalists on March 24, and made their winning presentations to an audience of judges, bankers, investors, business people and students on April 11th .
