About the Speakers
Anita Brearton is a marketing executive with more than 28 years working in high technology.
Ms. Brearton served as vice president of corporate marketing at Sycamore Networks, where she took the company from its infancy through its highly successful IPO to become one of the leading companies in the Intelligent Optical Networking market. Prior to Sycamore, Ms. Brearton held senior marketing management positions with Cascade Communications, Artel Video Systems, and General DataComm. She currently works with technology startup companies as a marketing and strategy consultant. In this capacity Ms. Brearton has worked with A123 Systems, Airvana, Altruik, Azuki Systems and others. Anita serves on the advisory boards of Connect2 Communications and Altruik. In addition, Ms. Brearton works with the Simmons Graduate Entrepreneurship program as a coach and mentor to first time entrepreneurs.
Leonard Morrissey's mission is to ensure that Eastern Bank continues to aid small businesses within Massachusetts through its partnership with the Small Business Administration (SBA). Eastern Bank was the No. 1 SBA lender in 2009 by way of the most SBA-related loans of all banks in Massachusetts. Morrissey has worked as a commercial and small business lender for 14 years and has been directly involved with SBA lending for nine years.

About the speaker:
Bill Stone has been Principal and a Managing Member of Outside GC since its founding in 2002.
Bill Stone brings a unique combination of legal and business experience to his clients, having served both as outside general counsel for companies in several different industries, and as an executive business development professional. Bill's legal practice has focused on international joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate counseling, primarily to technology companies. Bill's clients at Outside GC include GTECH Corporation and Bradford Soap International.
Before co-founding Outside GC, Bill led an international business development team as Vice President Business Development for eBT International, Inc. a Nasdaq-traded enterprise software company. Prior to that, Bill served as Vice President Corporate Development and General Counsel for Verde Media, Inc., a venture capital-backed media company in San Francisco. Before joining Verde, Bill practiced law as a partner in the law firm Tonkon Torp LLP, where he co-founded the firm's technology practice group, and acted as general counsel to multiple technology, manufacturing, service and retail companies.
Bill brings extensive experience in capital raising transactions, from early-stage angel rounds, through venture rounds and registered public offerings. Bill has represented both issuers and underwriters in conducting initial and secondary public offerings and Bill also has served as the principal SEC '34-Act reporting counsel to public companies and their boards of directors. Prior to joining Tonkon Torp, Bill served as a law clerk in the chambers of the Honorable Mark L. Wolf in the federal district court in Boston, Massachusetts.
